Christmas 2011

The Christmas Holiday began on December 22 at the McMillan's of  high Draper.  It was a fantastic evening, and I, as usual saw two of my favorite people. ;-)  I also saw their parents, and because they are some of our favorite people, we chose to shower their parents with goodies, as to celebrate the birth of their kids.

Then, on the 23rd Christmas continued at my awesome sister's house of American Fork, just near the marina. The evening was equally exiting, as we celebrated with cousins and family.  Aiden sobbed over a Christmas game that didn't end in his favor, then sobbed over not being able to live with his cousins.  Oliver sobbed too. They sob every time they leave the company of their favorite cousins.  I just comfort. I have no idea how to handle it.  We got to hang with my brother's kids as well, who had brought girl friends....talk about a trip. Talk about make a person feel super old.  I was that aunt that

had kids and a lame life....wow.  Little did we know something larger than we could fathom was brewing.

Oh Christmas flu oh Christmas flu!!!

On Christmas eve I sang and sang and sang some more.  My brother and all of his kids came, and his wife.  Ryan's family came and partook in the beautiful bounty of Christmas music.  I left the church at 1 am and returned at 1:20 to a husband hunched over in pain.  My brother told me that his son was quite ill and had already had some episodes.  I felt bad.

The Christmas flu unfolded on our home and I was there to make sure all was okay.  Ryan and Oliver were in pain and not doing so hot.  It was a giant bummer.  It is really hard to be excited about presents when you don't feel well.  It is also hard to get excited about presents when you are watching someone throw up every 10 minutes or cleaning up after them.  None the less, it was a magical day.  Both of Ryan's parents came over (at separate times) to bring Christmas cheer.  It was a bit awkward because Ryan was green and lying on the couch.  Oliver cared not about his stocking or toys.  They really were grateful, and are so excited about their gifts.  The timing was just not in our favor.

Later Christmas day I called both of my siblings, and one of their kids were sick as well!!!! Then I called my mother, and my stepfather was sick also!!!!!  I called my brother back and we laughed about being poisoned.  We knew it wasn't the case, but we still laughed.  I then took the role of being the youngest child and thought it was my fault for about an hour.  Then I realized there was no way it was.  But being the youngest, it is like your obligation to take accountability for disasters...:-)

Each present that was opened one person would run to the bathroom to throw up.  I cleaned up a lot of throw up.

Two days later I looked at the hospital bill for Oliver's Phenomena,  and everyone was better.  We are STILL paying for that stay.  I would prefer the stomach flu any day.

The few photos we have of Christmas are taken by Ryan.  Notice the vantage point from the couch: Laying down.

The boys got snow shoes!!! we are happy happy happy people.

I unabashedly adore you, and am so glad you found the humor in such a not-fun situation. Your boys are darling, and I can't wait to see you next week!
