The Michael Jordan of the Opera world

In a week from Saturday I humbly will sing for one of the best opera singers ever to live.  Dolora Zajick.  Even better, I will step into the doors of my high school for the first time since graduating to sing for her....I am so honored.  I cannot wait to sing for her, and get her constructive criticism.  I will be intensely star struck.

One thing that most people never consider about singing, is just how hard it is. :-) I mean it. Have you ever tried breathing when your heart is pounding and you feel butterflies all aflutter?  Have you ever tried to be heard over one trumpet, violin, or ....try a 150 piece orchestra?  Technique serves to communicate every nuance that a composer wishes to, and a singer has a pretty hefty job.  An opera singer does not use a mic.  Usually if there is a mic is used to record. It is the equivalent in pressure to making a winning 3 point throw in basketball...with 20 seconds on the clock.  Not everyone can do it. SHE IS MY HERO.  Just listen to her ability to make such beautiful sound, and be heard over a gigantic orchestra.  She is also a positive, and inspirational pedagogue, she knows how to sing, and knows exactly how to teach people...I am thrilled!!

For the past couple of weeks I have been preparing one of my most dramatic, and vocally complex scenes, with coachings and lessons. I am looking forward to this opportunity, and because I was chosen based on my talent and hard work, I promise to enjoy every minute of it.  EVEN the heart pounding.  Some people jump out of airplanes to experience the rush, I stand in front of people and expose raw emotion,.....
